Alyssa Earlen, MA, NCC is a Masters-Level Counselor. She received her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Rider University and her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Rowan University. Alyssa has experience working in private practice settings providing individual counseling to children, adolescents, and young adults experiencing low self-esteem, body image concerns, disordered eating behaviors/eating disorders, emotional dysregulation, low mood, and more. Alyssa is a National Certified Counselor working towards becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor.
Alyssa’s therapeutic style involves an eclectic approach. While providing empathy and taking a person-centered perspective, she meets her clients where they are by utilizing the most appropriate techniques for their unique needs. However, Alyssa often draws concepts from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). Alyssa views counseling as a collaborative, on-going process in which she assists clients in creating positive change and growth. She finds importance in helping clients recognize their personal strengths to build upon their resilience and navigate hardships.
Alyssa strives to help clients feel comfortable and safe during their therapy sessions by remaining authentic and nonjudgmental, as she believes the therapeutic relationship plays a significant role in counseling. She treats the client as a whole by focusing on the connection between their mind and body because how we nourish both has a direct impact on our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Alyssa will guide you towards living a fulfilled, empowering life.
Alyssa holds a special interest in helping individuals who struggle with low self-esteem, body image concerns, and disordered eating behaviors/eating disorders. Alyssa believes that working from a body neutrality perspective promotes self-acceptance and a deeper appreciation of what our bodies allow us to do, which facilitates healing.
Outside of her role as a mental health counselor, Alyssa enjoys spending time with her loved ones, going on walks, being in nature, and exercising (fun fact: she is a natural professional bikini bodybuilder!). When it’s time to unwind for the day, she loves to snuggle up with a book, particularly on self-improvement and mindset. Alyssa is also a Mental Performance Coach for athletes looking to improve their performance and reach their highest potential as an individual and athlete.
